Advanced Cataract Surgery

and Premium IOLs

Cataract-A clouding of the lens of the eye

Normally, light passes through the clear lens and is focused onto the retina.  The cataract lens blocks the passage of light through the eye and causes distorted or blurred vision.  Most cataracts are a result of the natural aging process where the lens gradually becomes cloudy.

Although cataracts are the leading cause of poor vision in adults, good vision can be quickly restored with outpatient surgery using local (eye drop) anesthesia and intraocular lens implants (IOLs).  Cataract surgery involves the removal of the cloudy lens and replacement with a plastic implant.

The first intraocular lens implant procedure was performed in 1950.  It took 30 years of advances in microsurgery equipment, techniques and lens design before eye surgeons began performing cataract and lens implant surgery routinely.  Prior to IOLs, cataract patients had lengthy hospital stays, wore thick cataract glasses with poor peripheral vision and were almost blind without their glasses.

Today lens implant surgery has developed into one of the safest and most successful outpatient procedure.

  • Outpatient surgery - patients return home within a few hours after the procedure.
  • Essentially pain-free surgery with local (eye drop) anesthesia.
  • No stitches.
  • Rapid recovery - most patients are able to see well shortly after surgery.
  • Premium IOLs give patients the ability to customize their vision to meet their own personal lifestyle needs.

We offer premium intraocular lens implants such as Crystalens and Restor which can greatly improve your distance and reading vision.  The TORIC lens can correct astigmatism so you may not need your eyeglasses for distance vision.

Come in and talk to Dr. Salz about these technologies and find out if the need for cataract surgery is now an opportunity to spend a good deal of your life without glassses

TESTIMONIALS

Kathy M., TORIC lens patient.  "I only wish I could have had this done years earlier.  I recommend Dr. Salz and the TORIC lens to everyone."

Kathy relates, "Cataract surgery with the TORIC lens has greatly improved my life.  I had been wearing glasses and toric contact lenses to correct my nearsightedness and astigmatism for decades.  When I found out I had cataracts and could have a lens implant to correct my astigmatism at the same time, I was immediately interested.  You and your staff were very patient and answered all my questions.

During my cataract surgery, Dr. Salz talked to me and made the procedure seem easy.  I did not have any pain and was able to return to work only one day after my operation.

I just love my new vision.  Riding my motorcyle has been one of my joys but wearing glasses with my helmet was a nuisance and my contact lenses would dry out in the wind.  I now can read signs down the road and don't have to fuss with my contacts or distance glasses.  My new hobby is golf and my vision is great for that too.  It's one of the best things I have ever done for myself.  I would highly recommend Dr. Salz and the TORIC lens implant to anyone."

James Z., had the Restor IOL and he has this to say:

"Having the Restor implant has been great!  All my friends are in awe of the fact that at age 73, I no longer need glasses for distance or reading since my cataract surgery.  Thank you Dr. Salz for my new vision."
